Mucho se ha platicado en las ultimas semanas de Skype y Teams despues del anuncion en el Ignite. Donde se dijo que MS Teams ahora es el cliente core de comunicaciones de Microsoft.
Tambien se menciono que Skype for Busines Online, sera reemplazado por Teams a mas tardar en Septiembre de 2018. y porque remarco que Online, simple. Solamente la oferta en la nube de Microsoft sera la que sea reemplazada por Microsoft Teams. Para el mundo Onprem, Microsoft aun lanzara una version (Skype for Business 2019) dentro de la cual la mayor ventaja sera la integracion con Teams para el ambiente hibrido. Como muchos sabemos Teams no se ejecuta sobre el backbone de SfB sino sobre el de Skype Consumer, por lo que no seria raro que se alineara SfB y solo existiera el backbone de Skype Consumer/Teams.
Skype for Business Server tiene aun soporte hasta por unos 10 años mas, asi que no se preocupen o apuren por moverse a Teams, es una migracion que puede planearse y llevar a cabo con mucho tiempo.
La recomendacion seria tomarlo con calma, e ir evaluando el cliente de Teams trabajando en paralelo con Skype. Aun no se han liberado todas las funcionalidades al cliente de Teams, que son necesarias para que realmente sea el sustituto de nuestra herramienta actual.
Asi que podriamos decir que es una muerte anunciada, pero tenemos Skype para rato!

on the last weeks we had been talking about Skype and Teams, after Ignite announcement. Where they said MS Teams is now core communication client for Microsoft.
There said that Skype for Business Online will be replaced by MS Teams, at the end of Q3 2018, and I remark ONLINE because, only Skype on the cloud will be replaced by MS Teams, for onprem world Microsoft will release a new version (SfB Server 2019) that will have a better integration with the new solution for Hybrid (Teams on cloud and sfb onprem). As most of us know, Teams does not run on the SfB backbone, it runs on Skype Consumer. So there’s nothing new that SfB will align and run on the same backbone for better integration.
Skype for Business Server will have support up to 10 more years, so nothing to be afraid or rush to move to Teams, this migration can be planned and take it easy.
Recommendation should be to evaluate MS Teams client, working side-by-side with Sfb. MS Teams has not yet all features that needs to replace Sfb completely.
We can say that is an announced death, but we still have Skype for Business for a while.
